Born in Teaneck, New Jersey, Barry Liffiton is the son of Donald Usher Liffiton and Marjorie Reed Clulow. In the fall of 1996, the Reverand Barry Liffiton became the pastor and in 1997 became the senior pastor of the Grace Evangelical Free Church, 5550 Berkshire Valley Road in Oak Ridge, New Jersey. As recent as 2007, he was still associated with Grace Church. He has a B.A. in Economics from Lafayette College. Reverand Liffiton is married to Joan Goodling, and they have three daughters.
